Meet the Craftsman: Ricky Hill

Meet Ricky: born and raised right here in Abbeville, South Carolina, he joined us here at Stoll Industries in 1992 at the advice of his friend. When he started he could weld a little, but as he learned the craft, he filled quite a few positions. Now at number one in seniority, he’s an expert on brass and overlays. Beyond his handiwork with brass and overlays, he manufactures parts and assists in quality control. Although he says he loves any position, his favorite just might be the special projects that make production run smoothly. Lately, as we’ve redesigned our production area, he’s organized and kept things in order throughout the plant!

One of Ricky’s memories of the early days at Stoll was going to the trade show in Reno, Nevada. In those days, every member of the team went to the trade show. They’d all work together, setting up and tearing down the showroom booth. It was hard work and good times, complete with a trip to Lake Tahoe.

When he started in 1992 fireplace doors were the only products being manufactured available in black or a few overlay finishes. Times have changed just a bit and his favorite products right now are the Shiplap Walls in Brushed White and the Transitional Shelves.

Ricky says working at Stoll makes him a better person and his faith is strengthened by being part of a team that values character and a family atmosphere.

On the weekends, you might find him golfing, spending time with his family of 4 kids and 6 grandkids, going to a race, or cheering on the local high school football team, Abbeville Panthers. We’re so grateful to have a man like Ricky as a part of the Stoll family!
